Sushmita Dev is an Indian leader. She is a member of the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal. Sushmita is a Sylheti Bengali. She has migrated from the Sylhet district of Bangladesh with her family. She has served as the erstwhile president of the All India Mahila Congress.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, she lost 81596 votes to a BJP candidate named Dr. Rajdeep Roy.
However, in 2021, she joined the All India Trinamool Congress.
Life, Family Background and Politics
Sushmita Dev was born on 25 September 1972. She is the daughter of the veteran Sylheti Bangal Bengali Congress minister named Santosh Mohan Dev. Bithika Dev, Sushmita’s mother is also a Sylheti Banga legislator of Silchar of Assam assembly.
Her parents had shifted from Sylhet, Bangladesh with Sushmita, when she was young with the consideration to hold over Assam of India. They wish to bring all the Sylheti Bangal Bengali individuals as they hold over Barak Valley of Assam. It is a state of India, where the Assamese people live.
However, her parents also tried to take over Tripura a state of India from the korborok communities, and also tried to hold over West Bengal a state of India from the ghoti Bengali people.

Education
Sushmita has done her graduation degree in B.A.(Hons) from Miranda House. Thereafter, she did her Bar-at-Law, An LLB, which is a Corporate and Commercial Laws from the University of Delhi.
After that, she got admitted to the Inns of Courts School of Law, London, and King’s College London, U.K.
