Ms. Dalmiya represented the Bally Assembly Constituency from 2016 to 2021. She is the daughter of Indian cricket administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya.
Life and Family
Baishali was born in the year 1969 to Jagmohan Dalmiya and Chandralekha Dalmiya. She has a brother named Avishek Dalmiya. Previously, she was a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly (2016–2021).
Debut in All India Trinamool Congress
She began her political career in 2016, soon after her father’s death. She was permitted to stand in the assembly election from the Bally Assembly Constituency, she won and joined the All India Trinamool Congress.
Member of Bharatiya Janata Party
In 2021, Baishali was dismissed from the All India Trinamool Congress for anti-party actions. Thereafter, she entered the Bharatiya Janata Party with other politicians named Rajib Banerjee, Prabir Ghoshal, Rathin Chakraborty, and Rudranil Ghosh in the presence of Amit Shah in New Delhi.
In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly Election, she lost the seat as the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate to Trinamool Congress nominee Dr. Rana Chatterjee.
Controversies and Allegations
In 2015, a complaint was filed against Baishali Dalmiya by the Calcutta Leather Complex Tanners Association for cheating and misconducting of funds against ML Dalmiya & Co. Ltd. She is the director of M.L Dalmiya & Co. Ltd. along with her brother Avishek Dalmiya.
As per the report by General Secretary Imran Ahmed Khan, the Police visited their office to find the proof and turned the complaint into an FIR.
On 5 March 2021, another charge was made by the Trinamool Congress member Rana with the Election Commission against Baishali Dalmiya for the overthrow of data facts and not bringing appropriate data considering criminal antecedent in her proposal document.
