Nima ben Acharya Bio
Nima ben Bhavesh bhai Aacharya, better known as Nima ben Aacharya, is a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Anjar constituency in Gujarat and served for its 12th Legislative Assembly. Previously, she has served on the Gujarat family planning Council. She is a doctor by profession and is well known for her political works in Gujarat.

Early life and Education
Nimaben Acharya was born on 12 December 1947 in Nagnesh, Surendranagar, Gujarat. Currently, she is 74 years old as of 2021. She holds an MBBS degree, D. O. G, and M. D. degree in gynec and obstetric. She is a doctor, politician, and social worker by profession.
She is married to Dr.Bhaveshbhai F. Acharya.
Political career
In 1995, she was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Anjar constituency in Gujarat. She served that position till 2012. Then in 2012, she was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly from Bhuj constituency in Gujarat.
Many people don’t know that she started her political career as a member of the Congress Party by winning the 2002 and 2007 Assembly Elections on the party’s ticket. But in 2007, her husband and 6 other cooperators changed their side to the Bharatiya Janata Party and soon Nimaben also followed the path of her husband.
In 2007, she was thrown away from the Congress party due to anti-party activities as she voted for Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in the Presidential elections.
During the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, she was indicted for a one-year jail term by Morbi Magistrate as she was accused of buying voters with money along with Kanti Amrutiya who was an ex-MLA.
On 27 September 2021, she became a speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel proposed the name of Aacharya for the post of speaker and this was supported by the leader of opposition Paresh Dhanani.
Overall, she is a three-time BJP MLA and two-time Congress MLA. She is one of the senior-most MLAs in the state.
Controversy
In April 2017, when she was traveling to a funeral, her car was attacked by unidentified males who threw stones at it and thus broke the glass of the car. But Aacharya and her driver were unharmed.
