Konda Surekha Bio
Konda Surekha is an Indian politician who is a member of the Indian National Congress. She has served as an MLA from Shayampet, Parkal, and also from Warangal East constituencies in Telangana. She also served as a member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
Early life
Konda Surekha was born on 19 August 1965 in the city of Warangal, India. Currently, she is 56 years old as of 2021. She was born Thumma Chandra mouli and Thumma Radha. She was educated at Kakatiya University in 1985.
Political career
In 1995, she was elected as Mandal Parishad. After that in 1996, she was appointed as a PCC member. Later in 1999, she was elected as MLA from Shayampet and became a Congress Legislature Party Treasurer as well as a member of the Women and Child welfare committee and the Health and family education standing committee.
Then in 2000, she was appointed as an AICC member. In 2004 she was elected as MLA for Shayampet and became the official spokesperson for the congress party. In 2005 she became an Ex Officio member of the Municipal corporation. In 2009, she got elected as MLA for Parkal and became a Minister for Women Development & Child Welfare, Disabled & Juvenile welfare. But later, she resigned as a Minister when Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy died.
In June 2012, she contested in by-polls from the Parkal assembly constituency as a YSR Congress party candidate. Then in July 2013, she resigned from the YSRC party.
In the 2014 general election, she joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party and contested from Warangal East assembly constituency. She won as an MLA from the Warangal constituency.
Recently, she has also resigned from the TRS party along with her husband. She has joined Congress Party and may contest the next election from the Parkal assembly.
Political Statistic
In 1995 she contested for MPP from Shayampet constituency and won that. From 1999 to 2004, she served as an MLA for Shayampet as a member of the Indian National Congress. In 2009 she won as an MLA from Parkal as a member of the Indian National Congress. In the 2012 by-poll, she lost from the parkal constituency. In 2014 she won as an MLA for Warangal East constituency as a TRS party member. In 2018 she lost the election for an MLA for Parkal constituency as an INC member.
Personal life
She is married to Konda Murali who is an ex MLC and a Congress leader from Wrangal district. The couple has one daughter. Her residence is in Hyderabad.
