B. Jayashree is a former Indian theatre artist. She has sung so many songs and directed films and television shows. She has also worked as a dubbing artist in films. B. Early Life
Jayashree took birth in the year 1950 to G.V. Malathamma in Bangalore. G.V Malathamma was the daughter of Gubbi Veeranna, who was a well-known theatre director. Jayashree’s grandfather, Gubbi Veeranna founded the Gubbi Veeranna Nataka Company.
However, where she grew up, Jaya graduated from the National School of Drama, Delhi in 1973. In the school, she was used to training other students under the directions and teachings of Ebrahim Alkazi, who was theatre director and teacher.
Career as An Artists in Films
During these years, she has worked and acted with prominent theatre personalities, consisting of B. V. Karanth.
Jaya has acted in Kannada films, as an actress in Nagamandala in 1997, Deveeri in 1999, and Care of Footpath in 2006.
She has further momentarily remained the director of the Mysore-based theatre institute, Rangayana.
Jayashree was also a voice-over artist for several actresses such as Madhavi, Gayathri, Jaya Prada, Ambika, Sumalatha, and many others in Rajkumar movies.
Career as a Singer
B. Jayashree was a playback singer. She has worked in Kannada cinema and sung many songs, which include, the hit number “Car Car” for the Kannada film, Nanna Preethiya Hudugi.
Jayashree’s Career in Politics
In 2010, she was appointed to the Rajya Sabha as a Member. She has also got an honorary D. Litt Degree from the Karnataka State Open University in 2009.
Awards and Achievements
B. Jayashree received her Padma Shri from the Indian government. It is the fourth-highest civilian honor to people who do great work for society or contribute towards its growth.
In 1996, she received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for acting. It was awarded by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India’s National Academy of Music, Dance & Drama, known as the highest Indian honor given to performing artists.
